...one of the most famous kingdoms of ancient India was that of the Kurus. They had occupied the area near Delhi and their capital at Hastinapur on the banks of the Ganga. The ruler Dhritarashtra a descendant of Bharta the son of Dushyanta. He was one of the greatest Aryan kings. India is called Bharatvarsha or the land of Bharata after the great Aryan King. Dhritarashtra had a hundred sons, called Kauravas and five nephews called the Pandavas.
The most significant part of the Mahabharata is the sacred Bhagavad Gita or the Divine Song. It says that the most important thing is to do one´s duty without worrying about the results. The best way for one to do his duty is to conquer selfishness and desire..
